Skipping meals – not only can meal skipping slow your metabolic rate; at your next meal/snack you may have the tendency to overeat causing a vicious cycle of skipping the next meal/snack.
Not planning ahead – if you don’t plan out your meals and snacks it is easier to grab more convenience foods or promote grazing on foods throughout the day.
Not hydrating well – often thirst is mistaken for hunger. Additionally, drinking water can boost your metabolic rate.
Difficulty with stress management – not only do people turn to food during times of stress but stress also increases hormones that can lead to weight gain.
Lack of sleep – not sleeping properly can add to more sugar and carbohydrate cravings.
Not enough muscle building exercises – muscles are more metabolically active which can help with weight loss.
Eating too few calories – this can cause your bodies metabolic rate to slow down. It can also lead to fatigue and vitamin/mineral deficiencies contributing to lack of exercise and generally feeling unwell.
Yo-yo dieting – weight going up and down due to dieting and stopping many times can make it more difficult to lose weight in the future.
Too much alcohol – not only is alcohol a source of calories but snacking tends to happen more while drinking.
Not having balanced meals with protein, carbohydrates, and fats - this will leave you unsatisfied and may cause overeating at the next meal or grazing.
